Concretely, with a budget that represents the equivalent of 60 million euros, the investments amount to 600 million euros.

According to the head of the County Council, investments in Health exceed 120 million lei, the county hospital was rehabilitated and the local airport was also modernized with over 130 million lei. Thus, a journey by air between Bucharest and Baia Mare takes 50 minutes.

The secret of these performances lies in accessing and using European money.

Ionel Bogdan says that, in this sense, he was inspired by the example of Ilie Bolojan, a liberal with old positions in the local administration, president of the Bihor County Council.

Bogdan is, himself, the president of the County Council in Maramureș.

In addition, he is running for the mayor’s office of Baia Mare from the PNL.

President of the County Council: “Without European funds, no chance for extensive investments”

“Without European money, we would have no chance to rehabilitate schools and hospitals, invest in infrastructure and modernize the localities,” he admits.

The President CJ Maramureș claims that the local administration has implemented extensive investment projects that have generated jobs, the investments being a mix of money from the local budget, investment credits and European funds.

“Localities that have projects with European money have a considerable advance compared to those that did not access this money. We are an example of how European funds can be attracted in a very short time. And we spent them effectively.

The local budget of the County Council is below 60 million euros, but we managed to raise the investment budget to over 600 million euros, by attracting the necessary funds”, said Ionel Bogdan.

County public administrator: “In the fall, we will start contracting for the metropolitan belt”

Bogdan Ștețco, public administrator of Maramureș county and PNL candidate for the presidency of the Maramureș County Council, mentioned the investments in the county’s infrastructure for which the main source of financing is European money.

“The County Council first started the works on the metropolitan belt, for a better connection for the residents and for those who transit the area. We are working a lot on the part of geotechnical studies for the connection to the highway. In the fall, the documentation will be completed and we can start the road upon contracting.

We also open Maramureș through the bridge over the Tisa, an investment that connects Romania with Ukraine. Now we have an old historic bridge, which limits the tonnage of cars.

Through the Anghel Saligny program, we are rehabilitating county roads for which we are in the bidding phase. We are also working on bypass belts for several localities, which will ensure a quick crossing of the county,” said this official.
