The PSD senator denied that there had been any previous talk about the doctor Cătălin Cîrstoiu and states that she had learned from sources that certain analyzes had been made regarding the possibility of the candidacy of Daniel Baluță and Robert Negoiță.

Gabriela Firea claims that she tried to express her desire to be supported as a candidate of the Social Democrats for the Capital City Hall, but the decision had already been made.

“I had a discussion in which Mr. Paul Stănescu also participated and also the head of the electoral campaign, MEP Mihai Tudose, and this is exactly what I was told, that after all the analyzes carried out, the candidate’s profile must be that of an independent who will take votes and from the left and from the right, and that’s the only way we win the Capital City Hall. I struggled, I brought my own arguments but it is clear that the decision was already made and based on those studies“, said Firea, when asked if she was invited by the PSD leader, Marcel Ciolacu, to the discussions, until the official announcement regarding Cîrstoiu’s candidacy.

Firea: I didn’t say yes or no

Gabriela Firea told how Monday’s marathon meeting went, in which she participated, stating that until the last moment she did not suspect that she would be proposed as a PSD candidate. “We then went to the coalition meeting and there several candidacies were analyzed and at 1 in the morning it came to this version of separate candidacies“, said the PSD senator, when asked if Marcel Ciolacu had not told her in the previous delegation, from Pitesti, that he was going to be proposed to run.

Asked what was discussed in the marathon meeting of the coalition, Gabriela Firea replied: “It was discussed that even after calculations and analysis our candidate had not managed to accumulate enough votes either from the left or the right, that it would be a deadlock, that he was unfairly attacked and that it was a furious campaign against the government its, it was found that the direction is not what was thought it would be, i.e. a good one, and then a decision had to be made “.

The PSD senator claims that the coalition leaders did not ask the doctor Cătălin Cîrstoiu to withdraw,” he rightly heard the arguments and said “I don’t want to confuse anyone“.

The PSD candidate for the Capital City Hall says she will defeat Nicușor Dan “with their own weapons”criticizing the promises he did not fulfill.

“ He promised in the election campaign, from which he unfortunately emerged victorious for the people of Bucharest, that he would do wonders in Bucharest, that traffic would be reduced by 40%, as would pollution. Gabriela Firea stated that in the previous mandate at the Capital City Hall, she was no less present in the street compared to Cristian Popescu Piedone.

“I was present. I was also on construction sites a lot, including clearing snow, but I was out in the public and political space. (…) Honestly, I didn’t go to eat parisier or anything else, but I went to discuss. The PSD – PNL coalition decided, on Monday night, to give up the doctor Cătălin Cîrstoiu and go with separate candidacies for the position of general mayor of the Capital, respectively Gabriela Firea (PSD) and Sebastian Burduja (PNL), in order to maximize the electorates of the two parties .
