The hydrologists of the National Institute of Hydrology and Water Management, as a result of the forecasted precipitation, the release of water from the snow layer in the high mountain area and the propagation, have instituted the Yellow Code on several river sectors in eleven counties of the country, including two watercourses from Gorj county.

“It comes into effect from 12pm today and is valid until 10am on Friday.

In this context, rivers from the hydrographic basins are targeted: Vişeu (Maramureş county), Someşul Mare (Bistrita Năsăud county), Jiu (Gorj county), Gilort (Gorj county), Târlung (counties: Braşov and Covasna, Olt (counties: Braşov, Sibiu, Vâlcea and Argeş), Olteţ (counties: Gorj and Vâlcea), Argeş (counties: Argeş and Dâmboviţa), Ialomiţa (counties: Dâmboviţa and Prahova), Prahova (counties: Prahova and Ialomiţa) and Buzău (counties: Braşov, Covasna and Prahova).

The Hydrological Warning mainly concerns the phenomena of important leaks on slopes, torrents and streams, rapid floods on small rivers, with possible severe effects of local floods, which can occur with greater probability and intensity on some small rivers in the counties: Argeş, Dâmboviţa and Prahova.

We recommend increased vigilance to the population in case of carrying out activities exposed to floods.

Depending on the evolution of the hydrometeorological phenomena, we will return with information”, the issued hydrological warning states.
