PNL Bihor breaks the mystery. After recently more and more people asked the question whether Ilie Bolojan will run again or not, PNL Bihor announces that he will compete for a new mandate for the presidency of the Bihor County Council, and Florin Birta will again enter the race for the leadership of the Oradea City Hall .
“During the meeting of the PNL Bihor County Board of Directors that took place today, April 25, Mr. Ilie Bolojan for the position of president of the Bihor County Council and Mr. Florin Birta for the position of mayor of the Municipality of Oradea”, announced in a short press release sent Thursday afternoon by PNL Bihor.
The information also states that “the lists of candidates for the Bihor County Council and the Oradea City Council will be announced in the coming days”.
Candidacy in question
As Bihor he also wrote, until Thursday afternoon, PNL Bihor had remained the only liberal organization in the country that had not made public the name of the candidate for the County Council, even if the figure of the current president of CJ Bihor and PNL Bihor, Ilie Bolojan, is displayed on the banners.
Bihor learned that Bolojan was tempted not to enter the race, with the final decision depending on an opinion poll whose results were provided on Wednesday.
Moreover, including in the press conference on Thursday, Ilie Bolojan was asked by Bihor if he will run for a new mandate, and PNL president Bihor refused to comment: “These matters will be announced through the systems of the political parties, in the coming days. In any case, the submission of candidacies must be closed on Tuesday, so there is not much until then”, said Ilie Bolojan.
Unanimously, without Bolojan and without Mălan
According to sources BIHOREANthe decisions regarding the candidacies of Florin Birta for Oradea City Hall and respectively Ilie Bolojan for CJ Bihor were taken on Thursday, one by one, unanimously, during a meeting of the County Political Bureau, which has 35 members, in the absence of both Bolojan, as well as the vice president of Bihor CJ Mircea Mălan, both of whom are away in the county.
Although analyzed in an internal survey, the option of the latter being designated as PNL Bihor’s candidate for the headship of the County Council was not even discussed.
“The meeting was chaired by Dumitru Șiplea (no – county prefect) as General Secretary and it didn’t last more than 20 minutes. The results of the survey were not presented, however it was known that we have the best chances with Bolojan. Birta’s candidacy was put to the vote for the first time, then Bolojan’s, both were voted for unanimously and without further discussion”, said sources from PNL Bihor.
They want maximum with Bolojan
Bihor’s liberals had a survey, recently completed, intended to show them whether in the version with Mălan, PNL Bihor candidate instead of Bolojan, they would be able to secure a majority of at least half plus one of the total number of mandates in both Bihor CJ , as well as at the Oradea City Council.
Sources from PNL Bihor claim that Bolojan was tempted to “transfer” Mălan’s candidacy, but it seems that the survey showed that he would not be able to ensure the expected profit for the candidates for the two councils, nor for the candidates for the county mayors and local councils.
The decision adopted by BPJ is to be validated in a new meeting of the County Board of Directors, which has 123 members and which is underway on Thursday evening.
