Rivers in Sibiu and 10 other counties under yellow flood code

Hydrologists have issued a Code Yellow flood warning, valid until Friday on rivers in 11 counties.

The rivers in the hydrographic basins are targeted: Vişeu (Maramureş county), Someşul Mare (Bistrita Năsăud county), Jiu (Gorj county), Gilort (Gorj county), Târlung (Braşov and Covasna counties), Olt (Braşov county), Olt ( counties: Brasov, Sibiu, Vâlcea and Argeş), Olteţ (counties: Gorj and Vâlcea), Argeş, Dâmboviţa (counties: Argeş and Dâmboviţa), Ialomiţa (counties: Dâmboviţa and Prahova), Prahova (counties: Prahova and Ialomiţa), Buzau (counties: Brasov, Covasna and Prahova), Mediafax announces.

As a result of the forecasted precipitation, the yielding of the water from the snow layer in the high mountain area and the propagation, there may be important discharges on the slopes, torrents and streams, rapid floods on the small rivers with possible local flooding effects and increases in flows and levels on some rivers from the mentioned hydrographic basins, with possible exceeding of the quotas of attention.

The warning takes effect at 12:00 p.m. Thursday and is in effect until 10:00 a.m. Friday.
