Completed last year, the reception of the new ANL blocks on Viitorului was announced for May 20. “I received the confirmation only by phone. It’s been postponed since autumn”

The new blocks on Viitorului street, intended for young families from Sibiu, could be received by ANL on May 20. Mayor Astrid Fodor announced this at the local Council meeting on Thursday, April 25. However, this is not certain, the final reception of the works being, according to Fodor, “postponed from autumn”. The new homes – in which there are 16 apartments – are expected especially by families with several children, for whom it is currently proposed to move into studios – the only ones available.

The subject of the availability of ANL housing in Sibiu was brought to the local council by a Sibiian, Ilie Deac, who was recently assigned a studio apartment, too small for his family: two adults and three children.

“In 2021, a local councilor said “I find it sad“, drawing attention to the fact that studios from the ANL fund are allocated to families with four to five members. Three years after this statement, I find myself in exactly this situation. After an ANL file opened 4 years ago, I was recently assigned a studio apartment. After asking a set of questions to the City Hall, I noticed a lack of transparency and an unpredictable way of working in terms of housing allocation.

I clearly asked if there were other available homes to be used. I was told in wooden language exactly what I already knew – there are 18 studios available and that’s what we’re allocating now.

My wife and three children and I don’t know whether to accept or refuse and risk staying on the outside… maybe for a few more good years,” said Deac in his speech at the end of the local Council meeting.

He referred to the two new buildings on Viitorului street, where 44 homes were built, including 16 apartments.

“Nobody knows or wanted to tell me clearly what’s up with those blocks. I understood that they were completed last year, but that they were not taken over by the municipality. So, I want to ask you, Madam Mayor, what is the plan for the two blocks in Viitorului street and when will they be allocated? From our point of view, information on this subject is very difficult to find”.

The procedures for four blocks on Viitorului street were started over ten years ago. In 2017, the first two blocks were completed, and the contract for the construction of the two new ANL blocks in Sibiu was signed in October 2019. The value of the contract was 8.23 ​​million lei, excluding VAT, being entrusted to the association led by Total NSA AG Construct, which also includes Pro Hart Group from Sibiu, and subcontractors Eurocerad International and Pegasus Engineering, both companies from Bucharest.

“We don’t know when we will make the distribution”

In response to the citizen Ilie Deac, the mayor Astrid Fodor announced that he does not know when the local administration will be able to distribute the new homes, implying that discussions with ANL representatives take place more by phone. “The people from ANL only informed us by phone that the final reception will take place on May 20. We have no written confirmation, no reception was called.

We have sent a new address to the ANL management to clearly tell us a date on which the reception takes place. Only after reception are they handed over to Sibiu City Hall. Only after we have them, we are the ones who will distribute these homes. And there, unfortunately, there are not many large apartments, mostly studios. I can’t tell you anything else.

Now the blocks belong to the ANL, they have the contract with the builder, they receive the property and after it is received and it is in order, then they hand it over to the town hall. Since the fall of last year, this reception has been postponed. It’s not up to us to do the reception,” replied the mayor.
