Rupea Fortress, one of the most beautiful places in Romania

The Rupea Fortress is located in the city of the same name, located in Brașov County. In 1324, it was certified as a royal castle, and in the 15th century it came under the administration of the Saxon community, being transformed into a refuge.

Until the 17th century it was extended. Also called Cetatea Cohalmului, it has a strategic settlement and helps to connect the roads connecting Transylvania, Moldova and Wallachia through the southeastern passes.

The fortress is built on the Cohalmului Hill and has fortified walls in some places. Moreover, in these places, the fort known as Rumidava was built, which the Romans conquered and transformed into the Rupes fort.
