A patient related the unpleasant experience she had at Cluj Clinic Gynecology and Obstetrics 1, where she presented herself for a consultation, with a referral and with the health system fees paid up to date.
“As a new patient at the clinic, I went today 24.04.2024 for a gynecological check-up with a referral from the family doctor and with an appointment made a month ago. During the consultation, I was recommended an ultrasound. To my surprise, I was asked to pay a fee of 150 lei for this procedure, although it is my first visit to the clinic and I have been contributing to the CAS for many years… and I can say that it is not a little as it is drawn month by month .
As I entered I was informed that there are no longer enough funds for free ultrasounds and that patients must bear the cost of the procedure. They told me the email was sent yesterday to check it. I find it extremely unfair that, after paying CAS contributions for so many years, I have to pay extra for an ultrasound that is considered standard as part of a gynecological check-up”, the patient reported for Stiri de Cluj.
She thought it was a big joke, because she did her duty, paid her dues, and went to get the referral.
“Moreover, I traveled a distance of 100 kilometers to get the referral ticket required for the (free) consultation. I find it a travesty that after all the effort I have put in I have to pay again for an essential medical procedure.
I would like to draw attention to this situation and report it to the competent authorities. It is inadmissible for patients to be subjected to such abusive charges, especially in the context in which they contributed to the medical system by paying CAS“, said the woman.
It is already a known fact that more than 90% of a hospital’s budget goes to salaries and expenses, and 10% remains for the medical act. Without files you have to pay, even though we contribute to health every month, even 2-3 times.
