Valentin Ştefan was asked, on Wednesday, in an online press conference, if the postmen will manage to deliver the pensions before the Easter holidays.
“The short answer is yes, we can deliver the pensions by the holidays. Now let me give you some details. (…) May 2 is a working day. In the company, we work anyway. Secondly, we have the logistical capacity to bring the pensions by the holidays.
Now it depends a lot when the money enters our accounts from the National Pension House, from the Treasury, from the Ministry of Labor, that there is a whole administrative flow there. Depending on when we receive the money, we will know whether we will ask the employees to work on the days off or not, whether we are talking about May 1 or whether we are talking about May 3″, declared Valentin Ştefan.
“In principle, if we get the money later, we would need only one non-working day to invite them to come to work so that they distribute the pensions, but for now we cannot come with a clear answer because we do not know when the money in the accounts. If it comes to us in time, there is no need. If they enter us later, we will have to mobilize even better”, he added.
“So if we get the money on Friday, we take it faster”
He explained that the Post Office receives the money a few days before the beginning of the month.
“Usually, the Post Office receives the pension money a few days before the first of the month. Every day that we receive our pensions faster, the faster we will be able to take them. So if we get the money on Friday, we take it faster.
If we receive them on Monday, we are one day late, but all pensions can be carried over until the holidays. Of course, if we don’t get any money, we can’t take them. I don’t think that’s the case, I know that the Ministry of Labor is also working,” said the general director of the Romanian Post.
Asked how much money is allocated monthly for pensions in Romania, the general director of the Romanian Post answered: “I don’t know. I do not have these data because we do not carry all pensions. Instead, the Romanian Post receives about five billion lei every month”.
