Alba Transilvana Book Fair 2024 in Alba Iulia: Ana Blandiana, Daniel Nazare and Free Beer, on the first day of the event

Alba Transilvana Book Fair 2024 in Alba Iulia: Between May 10-12, on the esplanade of the National Union Museum in Alba Iulia, the 15th edition of the Alba Transilvana Book Fair will take place.

The organizers of the event are the Alba County Council and the “Lucian Blaga” Alba County Library.

Publishing houses from all over the country, cultural and educational institutions, cultural associations and individual authors present their book offer. On this occasion, the public has the opportunity to find out about the latest editorials, meet prominent writers and participate in artistic events or interactive activities for adults and children.

The organizers of this year’s edition of the Alba Transilvana Book Fair propose you, for May 10, 2024, to participate in the official opening. The event starts at 10:30 a.m., to the sound of the Alba Iulia Brass & Drums, accompanied by cheerleaders from the Ariesul Ritmic from Câmpeni.

The book launches supported by the Union of Romanian Writers (Răzvan Voncu, Hanna Bota and Ioan Hădărig) will follow. The publications of the “Lucian Blaga” Alba County Library will be presented (Discobolul, Verbum, Viața Bibliotecii, Metodica and Povesti de noapte bonă).

In the program there will be a special moment dedicated to the Avram Iancu Bicentennial Year, the presentation of some valuable works by the Școala Ardeleană and Casa Carții de Sciința publishing houses from Cluj Napoca.

Răzvan Voncu, Hanna Bota, Ioan Hădărig, Georgeta Orian, Constantin Inel, Ilie Rad, Ada Blendea, Zenovie Cârlugea, Daniela Floroian and Luiza Pop will present the book launches.

Starting at 2 p.m., those present will enter the world of childhood. The children’s book “A journey of (re)acquaintance”, author Laura Iviniș, will be launched.

Next is the pottery workshop of the “Augustin Bena” Cultural Center. Then the theater workshop “Laborator de C’ArteTeatru” supported by university lecturer Dr. Cătălina Mihăilă from the University of Arts in Târgu Mureș is presented.

Throughout the day, the little ones are expected at drawing workshops, the robotics workshop of students from the “Horea, Cloșca and Crișan” National College in Alba Iulia (3:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.), the chess game held by master David Cordea from Municipal Sports Club “Unirea” from Alba Iulia (13.00-16.00 hours). There will also be face painting workshops, supported by students from the “Regina Maria” Arts High School in Alba Iulia.

The first day of the Alba Transilvana Book Fair will end with

• presentation of publications: Astra. Literature, arts and ideas, Astra. The flight to Brașov between the beginnings and the present and Jacques Hérold, in bibliophile editions and the conference “But even robots are afraid for their future”, presented by Daniel Nazare, director of the “George Barițiu” County Library in Brașov
• the conference “Can poetry save the world?” supported by the writer Ana Blandiana
• the concert of the famous Bere Gratis band.
