A police officer from Iasi was bribed 4 times in a single month by drivers stopped in traffic

A policeman from IPJ Iași reported, in a single month, 4 attempted bribes. The agent works at the Ruginoasa Rural Police and has, every time, reported the deed to the anti-corruption Call-center System 0800.806.806 of the General Anti-corruption Directorate. The most recent call was on Wednesday morning, when a driver stopped in traffic wanted to offer him and his fellow crew member 100 euros each, journalists from Ziarul de Iași write.

The call to the anti-corruption call center 0800.806.806 was made on Wednesday by the police officer himself, who was doing a routine traffic control.

“On 24.04.2024, a police officer from the Iaşi County Police Inspectorate – Section 10 of the Ruginoasa Rural Police, being in the exercise of his duties, together with another police officer, notified the anti-corruption Call-center System 0800.806 .806 of the General Anti-corruption Directorate, an act of bribery. It indicated that a citizen stopped in traffic initially promised each of them 100 euros, in order not to apply a contraventional sanction to Law 61 /1991, as he refused to identify himself. Later, he effectively offered them the sum of 100 euros”, the representatives of the IPJ Iași say.

The agents categorically rejected the “offer” and let the driver go. The whole scene was filmed by the Body Worn Camera of the reporting police officer and is now evidence in the file.

Only in the last month, the same police officer reported 3 other similar facts, say the representatives of IPJ Iași.
