“Major damage to Bucharest’s heating network. Is it normal that in a large European capital, in 2024, there will be tens of thousands of people without heat and hot water? Not. Why is this happening? Because the investments were too few and too slow, due to carelessness and incompetence. It is impossible for me to understand the situation. We tried to launch an appeal to the Ministry of Energy for almost 600 million euros for the modernization of heating networks. I have already signed the contract with Suceava. Bucharest has not prepared any project. During this time, over 1,600 tons of hot water flow through the sieve of rusty pipes under Bucharest”, wrote Sebastian Burduja.

Last night, the current mayor said on a show: “this is not the right time to discuss my mandate.” Burduja wonders “But when is it? After June 9, to some people’s taste. But this city can’t afford another four years to wallow. And no wasted days in sterile survey analyses, postponed decisions and lack of commitment. Competitors for the trust of the citizens of Bucharest must answer a simple question: what will each of us do to change the lives of the citizens of Bucharest for the better?”.

Burduja announces that it has presented 5 clear solutions for several months, which can reduce the maintenance bill of Bucharest residents by half:

Rehabilitation of the heating network with non-refundable funds. So that we don’t have to pay for the losses.

The ELCEN-Termoenergetica merger. Greater efficiency, lower bills.

Direct connection of ELCEN to the Transgaz network. The citizens of Bucharest have paid 3.2 billion lei from 2007 until today, just for gas distribution, for a few kilometers of pipe. Project already started by me at the Ministry of Energy.

Modernization of CETs in Bucharest, 50-60 years old. Almost 700 million euros will be allocated through the Modernization Fund.

Geothermal energy for heating. The study was started a few days ago by ELCEN and the US Department of Energy, on the occasion of my visit to Washington.

“That means having a Plan. A Plan for the Bucharest of the Future. AMR 46. I am waiting for you to change Bucharest!”, he concludes.
