The Minister of Transport, Sorin Grindeanu, sent a public warning on Wednesday, April 24, to the builder of the bridge over the Danube, which connects Tulcea and the Galati – Brăila area, because he would refuse to open segments of the completed connecting roads to traffic, reports economica.net.

The Head of Transport urged the representatives of the Italian company WeBuild to abandon the lawsuits and rather enter a constructive zone. “This history, with the Brăila bridge, with the unloading on the Tulcean shore, at Jijila, know that it is finished. There is a problem at this moment. It is 99.9 percent completed, this 0.01 percent is related to the procedure At the moment there is an attitude that I want those who made this construction to correct. The CNAIR cannot accept a work that has certain non-conformities. We cannot do the reception -a penalty zone and those things flow. But that does not mean that this section towards Jijila cannot be put into circulation, just as it does not mean that the road development on the Brailean bank cannot be put into circulation and which it would help a lot to decongest the traffic in Brăila. This company refuses to do this procedure. I warn them publicly that it is an attitude that we cannot accept,” said the Minister of Transport, quoted by economica.net.

Grindeanu emphasized that he cannot accept that a completed work is not used. According to him, the builder would refuse to put it into traffic due to bureaucratic issues. “They came to Romania 15-20 years ago, but if they came with 100 engineers, they also came with 100 lawyers. I warn them that they are playing with fire. The work is completed on both the Brailean and Tulcean shores. This is something that is related to a legal practice, to win financial claims in court. Let’s enter a constructive area”, said the Minister of Transport.

The bridge over the Danube was opened to traffic on July 6, 2023, but the actual reception of the works was not done. During this period, several non-conformities of a technical nature were reported, which were just as many reasons for controversies between the builder and CNAIR.
