Health investments of over 120 million lei, the county hospital rehabilitated, the airport modernized with over 130 million lei

The current president of CJ Maramureș and candidate for Baia Mare City Hall, Ionel Bogdan, proposed to win back the investors: “The local administration no longer has credibility, and we must win it back through everything we do. My main objective is to win back investors. We will work in stages and prioritize investment works. There is money and we will have funds. The important thing is to use them. The municipality needs to increase its rating. Then we will be able to attract financing. Afterwards we will build long-term projects.”

Appearing in a TV show, Ionel Bogdan spoke about the main source of funding for investments in the county, European funds. The local administration of Maramureș implemented extensive investment projects that generated jobs. The CJ divided the money fairly in the county, the investments are a mix between the local budget, investment credits and European funds.
“Localities that have projects with European money have a considerable advance compared to those that have not accessed this money. We are an example of how European funds can be attracted in a very short time. And I spent them effectively. The local budget of the County Council is below 60 million euros, but we managed to raise the investment budget to over 600 million euros, by attracting the necessary funds”, declared Bogdan.

He told how, at the beginning of his mandate as head of the CJ, he was in Oradea and took the example of Ilie Bolojan, a liberal with old states in the local administration. Along the way, he sent teams from the County Council to be prepared for fundraising.

Bogdan Ștețco, the Public Administrator of Maramureș County and PNL candidate for the Maramureș County Council, detailed the investments in the county’s infrastructure, for which the main source of funding is European money.
“The County Council started the metropolitan belt for the first time, for a better connection for the residents and for those who transit the area. We are working extremely hard on the geotechnical studies side for the highway connection. In the fall, the documentation will be completed and we can start contracting. We also open Maramureș through the bridge over the Tisa, an investment that connects Romania with Ukraine. Now we have an old historic bridge that limits the tonnage of cars. Through the Anghel Saligny program, we are rehabilitating county roads, we are in the bidding phase. We are also working on bypass belts for several localities, which will ensure a quick crossing of the county”, he stated.

The quintessential tourist county, Maramureș now benefits from investments in the material base. To revive tourism, the County Council has revitalized traditional houses, works on local gastronomic points and their promotion, but especially on highlighting the local specifics.

“We have acquired heritage buildings through the Regional Operational Program and we are rehabilitating monument buildings, also through European programs. All buildings subordinated to the CJ have ongoing modernization projects. I propose to revitalize the buildings related to culture, but also the cultural phenomenon as a whole. A united and urgent approach is needed. We will apply the Oradean model, both as taxes and fees, and as support from the municipality. One of the diseases of local public administration is the fear of upsetting citizens with some investments. If you approach more sensitive topics and take into account the interest of the majority, you will manage to manage the community correctly. There must be a balance: investments in education, health, culture, sports, etc.”, declared Ionel Bogdan.

In relation to the investments in the local health system, Bogdan stated that Maramureș will have an emergency clinical hospital from this autumn and that recently they managed to be more attractive for young doctors by the fact that they managed to bring a university of medicine and pharmacy in Baia Mare.

Daniela Stamatoiu, Director General of the Maramureș International Airport – President of the Board of Directors Maramureș Industrial Parks: “We are happy that the road Bucharest – Baia Mare, by air, is available now, in just 50 minutes. This means a lot for the local business environment. We have made investments in the airport, from terminal works to state-of-the-art equipment. And we are preparing projects for energy security. Regarding airports, we are in 6th place in the country in attracting funds. The flow of passengers has increased, last year we had 80,000, this year we exceed 100,000 passengers. We have regular domestic and international flights and new routes in preparation. The airport develops local infrastructure and interconnectivity, which helps local business and tourism.”
