Once an East German military airport, the entire sector has turned into a graveyard for electric cars. The rules, however, remained strict as in the army. Press access is prohibited. The footage, made by journalists from the German daily Der Spiegel, is from a helicopter, and the employees, past whom trucks loaded with unsold electric cars pass every minute, avoid answering questions.
Sales of electric cars have collapsed
Sales collapsed at the end of last year, when the German government canceled the 4,500-euro subsidy for buying an electric car. Since then, trucks loaded with electric vehicles go only in one direction – to the car cemetery. In just 5 months, so many shots passed that the houses of the locals cracked from the vibrations.

15 million electric cars by 2030. This was the Berlin government’s plan for the car market. Manufacturers predict, however, that sales of electric cars this year will be 14 percent lower. The high prices and the infrastructure that has not yet been put in place scare away potential buyers.
Almost one and a half million electric cars are registered on the German car market.
