A Bolt delivery man, a foreign citizen from Sri Lanka, was seriously injured on Tuesday evening, at the intersection of Piața Avram Iancu and Bulevardul Eroilor. He ran a red light.

The driver of a car coming from Bulevardul Eroilor explained that he left the scene when the light turned green, but the scooterist came and hit him.

I hit him and actually only heard the hit. He was dressed in black, I heard the shot and that’s it”, said the first driver who hit the Bolt courier.

The scooter crashed into a tree and the courier ended up under another car. “It was green, we all started and the scooter came from here, from this side, to pass in front. He hit him, threw him off the scooter right under Mures’ car“, said a witness, quoted by Observatornews.ro.

The accident occurred on Tuesday evening, April 23, around 10:50 p.m., near the National Theatre. The scooterist entered the intersection on a red light and was hit head on by two cars, and was trapped under one of them.

From the first investigations carried out, it emerged that a 22-year-old foreign citizen, who was driving a moped from Timotei Cipariu Square, would have entered the intersection with Bulevardul Eroilor on a red light, being hit by a car, driven by a 65-year-old man, and then another car.

Following the event, the driver of the moped was stuck under the second car, being extracted by ISU Cluj crews, and then transported to the hospital for further investigations“, stated the Cluj Police.

The three drivers were tested with the breathalyzer, the results were negative.

ISU Cluj:Firefighters intervened to remove a man, aged approximately 30, from under a car. He had multiple traumas, but according to the first assessments, he was conscious and cooperative. The man was transported by an EMS crew to the hospital for medical treatment“.
