An important Iesian boulevard, widened to 4 lanes on 6.1 km: three new roundabouts. Total cost: 50 million euros – Ziarul de Iasi

--

CA Rosetti Boulevard will be widened on a 6.1 km section, to four lanes, so as to ensure the best possible road access to the Regional Emergency Hospital (SRU). The project is coordinated by the Regional Directorate of Roads and Bridges (DRDP) Iași, and the documentation is in the approval process, the last stage consisting in issuing a government decision for the approval of the technical-economic indicators.

In an optimistic time frame, the work could be ready in the second part of 2026. The money is secured from government sources: the realization of this over-widening was one of the conditions of Jaspers (the consultant of the European Commission) for the granting of funding for the construction of the SRU in the area Windmill. The goal is to facilitate access from the north of Moldova and, implicitly, the projected A8 highway.

According to the director of DRDP Iași, Ovidiu Laicu, current estimates show that the tender will be launched in the fourth quarter of 2024, and the works will begin in the spring of 2025. According to the data provided by him, the total value of the project amounts to 243 million lei , under the conditions in which construction and installation reach 165 million lei. “The approved technical solution consists in reinforcing the existing road structure and making boxes for the widening of the national road”, declared Ovidiu Laicu.

The road will be widened between the ski slope and the Vânători roundabout

The carriageway will be widened for a length of 6.1 km from the area of the ski slope to the intersection with DJ248B (the current turn from Vânători). The project provides for the construction of 18 footbridges, two bridges (each with a length of over 30 m), retaining walls, two turning points and three roundabouts. The latter will be carried out in the intersection area with the road access provided for the SRU (slope area), at the intersection with the road. Stephen the Great and Saint, while the current Vânători roundabout will be reconfigured.

On the 6.1 km of road, bd. CA Rosetti will have two lanes per lane (4 x 3.5 m) and approaches (2×2.5 m) that will include framing lanes (2×0.75 m). In total, the road platform will be 21 m, with a roadway of 14 m. According to the feasibility study, the over-widening also comes with the installation of some stations for public transport.

“After obtaining the government decision on expropriations and approving the technical-economic indicators, also by government decision, DRDP Iași will start the procurement procedure for contracting the documentation in order to obtain the building permit, the technical execution project and the execution of the works. We predict that the tender will be started in the fourth quarter of 2024, and the start order will be issued in the first quarter of 2025”, said the director of DRDP Iași Ovidiu Laicu.

Work on the SRU started last week

SRU Iasi will be built in the Moara de Vânt area between 2024 and 2028, according to the Ministry of Health. The preparatory works (site organization, excavations, utility diversions, etc.) for the construction of the unit started at the end of last week, within the framework of a contract concluded with the Ness Proiect Europe company with a value of 30 million lei. The construction work is still in the bidding phase, and the opening of bids is scheduled for May 20. In this case, the value of the contract amounts to 1.8 billion lei.

Regarding the road access to SRU from the widened boulevard of CA Rosetti, the solution is to be finalized by Iași City Hall. For now, the municipality has set up a temporary road from bd. CA Rosetti towards the SRU site to ensure the access of the trucks that are going to transport about 500,000 cubic meters of soil. Some portions of this temporary road will also remain in the permanent road network for access to the SRU.
