A Siberian man threatened his wife and three children with death. He destroyed his electronic bracelet through which the Police monitored him

The Sibiu police announce the opening of a criminal case after a Sibiu man with a violent past destroyed his electronic bracelet by which he was being monitored and returned to the family with serious threats.

The man is domiciled in Şelimbăr commune and is currently under criminal investigation for several crimes related to family violence.

It all started on April 1, at around 8:00 p.m., when the policemen of the Şelimbăr Rural Police Department were requested to intervene in the village of Bungard, Şelimbăr commune after a woman reported that her husband was threatening her and the three minor children, with death.

The 45-year-old man in question was identified at the scene.

“Following the assessment carried out regarding the risks to the physical integrity of the woman and the three children, the police issued a provisional protection order, among the obligations imposed on the man including that of not approaching the woman and children at a greater distance less than 50 meters. Since the man displayed an agitated behavior, he was later admitted to a hospital unit for specialized medical care”, informs IPJ Sibiu, in a press release.

At the same time, at the level of the Şelimbăr Rural Police Department, a criminal investigation file was opened regarding the commission of the crime of domestic violence.

On April 4, the Sibiu Court issued against the man a protective order valid for 12 months and, among other obligations, also ordered that during this entire period, the man be monitored through an electronic surveillance system.

During yesterday, April 23, at around 2:00 p.m., an alert was generated in the SIME Sibiu Dispatch regarding the destruction of the electronic bracelet mounted on the man in question, the last location being recorded in Chitila township, Ilfov county.

Also, shortly after the alert was generated, the man’s wife reported that she had been contacted by phone and threatened with acts of violence.

Immediately, at the IPJ Sibiu level, measures were ordered to ensure the protection of the victims, and at the national level, the procedure to trace and locate the man was launched.

“Following the performance of specific activities, on April 23, at around 11:45 p.m., the policemen of the Șelimbăr Rural Police Section detected the person in question in the Bungard locality, who was taken to the headquarters of the subunit for questioning,” informs IPJ Sibiu.

In the case, under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Sibiu District Court, investigations are being continued within a criminal file aimed at the commission of violations by the person against whom a protection order was issued prohibiting any contact, including by telephone, through correspondence or in any other way with the victim, the violation by the person against whom a protection order was issued of the obligation to permanently wear an electronic surveillance system, respectively the destruction of the electronic monitoring system.
