VIDEO Spectacular images from section 2 of the Sibiu – Pitesti highway. It is the section with five kilometers of tunnels

New images captured on the most difficult section of the Sibiu-Pitesti Highway, the Boita-Cornetu mountain lot, were uploaded on YouTube and show that the works for the technological roads have already started, reports Adevărul.ro.

The drone footage, taken at the end of April, by a professional photographer, Ioan Adrian Gica, who also permanently monitored lot 1 of the Sibiu – Pitesti Highway and posted the results on the specially created YouTube account, shows sensational images this time as well captured on the second section of TransCarpathia, between Boita and Cornetu, considered to be the most difficult highway segment in Romania.

Lot 2 Boita Cornetu, 31.33 kilometers long, is being built by the Turkish association Mapa Insaat Ve Ticaret AS – Cengiz Insaat Sanayi Ve Ticaret AS, for 4.25 billion lei (without VAT). Considered the most difficult highway section in Romania, it involves the construction of seven tunnels – in total length of approximately five kilometers (the longest, the one from Câineni – Vâlcea, will be 1.59 km) – 27 viaducts, 22 bridges and passages, as well as an ecoduct for animals at Lazaret – Sibiu, which will partially cross the DN7 / E81, the Olt Valley railway and the Olt River. The execution of the entire batch should be completed by 2028.

In mid-April 2024, the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Transport, Irinel Scrioșteanu, announced that following the issuance of the first building permit (AC) on this lot, the works were to start on the territories of the towns of Tălmaciu and Boita in Sibiu, where in addition to roads, water drainage, consolidation, relocation of public utility networks, public lighting and ITS, the execution will also begin at the Boita Viaduct in length of approximately 700 meters.

The Sibiu – Pitesti highway will eventually have a length of 122 km, of which only 13 km have been completed so far, which represents the length of the first of the five sections into which this road infrastructure project is divided, to which is added and the connecting road between the highway and the municipality of Râmnicu Vâlcea.
