The law banning gambling halls in towns with less than 15,000 inhabitants has been promulgated, and this decision is cause for joy especially for the mayors of Gorj. The mayors believe that the “slums” have destroyed many families and once these units are closed, there will be no more scandals.

In the Turburea commune, the gaming halls have started to close. “I also have breadcrumbs in the commune like everywhere else. I am sincerely glad that this law was passed, that many people have ruined themselves because of gambling. At my place there were three rooms next to each other, and one of them closed and surely the others will follow. It is a very good decision. It discourages the players”, declared Ion Bârca, the mayor of the Turburea commune.

And in Hurezani, the authorities are waiting for the locks to be put on the rooms with the “loafs”. “I also have about two game rooms in the commune with a population of 1,557 inhabitants, according to the last census. This decision to close the gambling halls should be beneficial, at least it discourages players”, said mayor Ion Mândruț.

The mayor from the commune of Roșia de Amaradia believes that the players will now go online. “I have only one arcade in the commune and it will surely close, but those who suffer from this disease will not stop. They will start playing online because many have this passion that they can’t get rid of”, declared Liviu Cotojman.
