Joint book promotion project in the community between the “Duiliu Zamfirescu” County Library and the PACO Supermarket Network

International Children’s Book Day – 02 April On the occasion of “International Children’s Book Day”, celebrated every year, worldwide, on April 2, the birthday of the famous Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen, “Duiliu Zamfirescu” County Library Vrancea launches the community reading stimulation service “Book for everyone!”, through which books will be offered, for freeto those who will go shopping in the stores of the PACO Supermarket Network in the Bahne District and on Bicaz Street, Gară District

This is a pilot project, which will be able to be diversified along the way, from the books offered to children, but also to adults, to other joint activities, carried out in the vicinity of these Supermarkets. We express our full gratitude to Mr. General Manager Feliciu Paraschiv, for his openness, generosity and promptness in organizing this neighborhood service of the “Duiliu Zamfirescu” County Library, dedicated to communities further away from our headquarters. We mention that today, on the occasion of this special day, new books will be offered, some of them signed by the writer Victoria Furcoiu Bunica, whom the public from Focșan knows from the Book Fairs organized in our town. The Library’s stands hosted by the two PACO Supermarkets in the Bahne District and on Bicaz Street, Cartier Gară, will be supplied weekly with various volumes from donors. This project to promote the book and implicitly reading in non-conventional spaces, has the advantage, among others, that it is dynamic, permanently available and free. As for the books, they are received from generous donors, many of them children themselves, librarians, or readers of the library.

So, we invite you, dear children, parents, grandparents, to join our project and, together, let’s make books travel, through reading, to everyone’s mind and soul!
