A former bailiff is being sued by the DNA, being accused that, together with another person, he had damaged the Oltenia Energy Complex with more than 1.2 million lei. He is also suspected of demanding fees up to 37 times higher than the legal requirements.

A former bailiff from Gorj and another person were sent to court by DNA Craiova in a case in which they are accused of having damaged the Oltenia Energy Complex with more than 1.2 million lei through forced execution procedures. According to the DNA, these procedures either did not have valid enforceable titles, or they targeted sums of money already executed. The executor would have requested the fees far above the legal limits, sometimes 37 times higher than the legal provisions.

The defendants are Matei Cosmin Catrinoiu, former bailiff at the BEJ “Catrinoiu Matei Cosmin”, accused of abuse of office with obtaining improper benefits in a continuous form, and SG, accused of complicity in abuse of office. According to DNA prosecutors, between September 3, 2018 and April 27, 2022, the two would have caused damage of approximately 1,205,497 lei to the debtor, Societatea Complexul Energetic Oltenia SA, and would have obtained an undue benefit.

The prosecutors pointed out that the court rulings on the basis of which the forced execution procedures were carried out were either not valid as enforceable titles, or concerned sums of money already fully executed by the bailiff. It is also mentioned that Catrinoiu would have set the fees far above the legal limits, in some cases 37 times higher.

The company Complexul Energetic Oltenia SA became a civil party in the case, and the DNA ordered the establishment of the insurance seizure on several immovable assets of the two defendants. The file was sent to the Craiova Court of Appeal for trial, with the proposal to maintain the preventive measures ordered.
