A businessman from Marghita enters the race for the City Hall: “I am prepared in all respects. Something must be done in the community”

--

A month ago, Valerian Ienciu, the administrator of several businesses in the city of Marghita and in the village of Abram, decided that he had to enter politics, in the USR. It is for the first time that he flirts with a political party.

“I decided to join the USR team because I saw them very determined. I have their support from all points of view”, says Valerian Ienciu.

Angry that more and more young people are leaving the city, Ienciu proposes to take the helm of the City Hall, hoping that he will be able to do more for the community.

“Over the years, we have invested heavily in Marghita and the city is dying, and it is dying because of those who led it. We lost around 1,000 jobs in two years. The area is declared as a balneo-tourist one and yet nothing has been done. Our young people are leaving on a conveyor belt. It can’t be like this anymore!”.

Ienciu claims that young people leave because they are not well paid and because they do not have stability.

“You can’t keep people with the minimum on the economy. Nowadays, you offend the man if you don’t pay him properly”.

Prepared both mentally and morally

Although he admits that he “doesn’t know how to eat” politics, he is willing to learn, listen and help citizens. Valerian Ienciu is convinced that he will have the support of the community based on the principle “there is no such thing as I can’t!”.

“I come from the private sector. I know that if I put a lei, I have to win something! I believe that a lot can be done in our city. I also want to support people who want to invest in Marghita. Since I’ve been in business, I haven’t received the support of any mayor, and it’s not easy to do everything by yourself. I am mentally and morally prepared for this candidacy. I don’t want to take the City Hall for money. I’ve made enough money in my life, I don’t need it anymore!”.

One of the projects he already has in the plan refers to the development of the city for balneo-tourist purposes.

“In Marghita we have at least five untapped hot water areas. We have a beach made by the former mayor 12 years ago that was not put into operation due to personal ambitions. Why? If the City Hall could not take care of it, it could give it to the private sector. We have another beach that is about 60 years old. The administrator has not invested any money in it. We cannot, in 2024, not have good conditions”.

At the same time, he is of the opinion that, if there are good projects left by the former mayors, they should be carried forward, because “here it is about what is good for the community, it should not be about pride”.

From scratch

He started it from scratch after lending a friend the money taken from the bank. The loan was for a transport company that Ienciu wanted to set up.

“In 1995, on May 9, I had taken a loan from the bank for an investment. I met a friend who asked me for some money, which he was to pay back in two weeks. I gave him all the money I took from the bank. I never saw them again. It was very difficult to manage for a year and a half, but I managed to get back on my feet”.

He tripled his fortune won in the Lotto

Born in Abram commune, and raised in Suplacul de Barcău, Valerian Ienciu is part of a large family, having nine more siblings.

After finishing school in Oradea, in 1979 he moved to Marghita and started working in the town’s machine-tool company until it was closed.

In 1993, together with one of her sisters, she opened her first business in Suplacul de Barcău – a grocery store.

In the summer of 2003, the man owned another business, a small auto parts store. According to himself, he played Lotto 6/49 numbers related to events in his family, in a combined scheme. That’s how he managed to win 1.5 million dollars and a 3-room apartment in the center of Bucharest.

In just three years he managed to triple his fortune after buying his own shop space and opening a construction company. Later, he built a hotel on the outskirts of the city, plus a restaurant, which still operates today, called “Crinul Imperial”.

Currently, he is the father of three daughters, and according to him, the youngest is following in his footsteps, being the reliable helper in the businesses he owns. He is also the happy grandfather of five grandchildren.
