More than 65 hectares of land in several localities in Suceava county were affected by fires during the day of Monday, the representatives of the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) Suceava announced on Tuesday.
According to them, the fires occurred in the localities of Slatina, Câmpulung Moldovenesc, Rădăşeni, Demăcuşa and Vicovu de Sus.
At Câmpulung Moldovenesc, the fire broke out in dry vegetation, and then spread to a wooded pasture, endangering the forest in the area of Câmpulung Moldovenesc municipality.
It intervened with forces and means, with the contribution of more than 65 people – military firefighters, workers of the forestry detours and from the voluntary services for emergency situations, on an area of approximately 30 hectares. For more than 8 hours, the intervention forces made superhuman efforts, on a very large and bumpy surface, and in strong wind conditions, to prevent the flames from reaching the forest floor. The mission was also made difficult by the fact that the fire trucks did not have direct access to the fire outbreaks, and there were no water sources in the area’, the ISU officials said.
The same situation was recorded in Moldoviţa commune, Demăcuşa village, where more than 30 hectares of dry vegetation and wooded pasture were affected by the fire. AGERPRES/FOTO illustrative image
