In the last weekend of March, Harghita military firefighters acted to manage the 33 emergency situations, registered at the county level.

During the three days, medical assistance actions account for the largest percentage of the missions carried out by the rescuers. Thus, during this interval, the SMURD crews provided support for 22 people in difficulty.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the efforts of our colleagues were also focused on the protection of communities and their assets, meaning that operative crews managed 3 situations of this kind: a mission to ensure fire prevention measures and a mission to assistance/transportation of an overweight person, in support of a SAJ crew, as well as a door unlocking mission, in the municipality of Toplița.

Simultaneously with these types of missions, during the analyzed period, Harghita firefighters acted to extinguish the 8 fires that broke out at the county level, of which one was caused by the chimney not cleaned of soot, one caused by the storage of ashes and unextinguished embers near the combustible materials and , last but not least, one caused by an electrical short circuit, in the towns of Racu and Gheorgheni.

Out of the total number of fires, 5 were recorded due to uncontrolled burning of dry vegetation, in Plăiesii de Jos, Sândominic, Sărmaș, Odorheiu Secuiesc and Toplița, as a result of which the affected land surface totals over 8 ha.

In addition, for the protection of the population, this weekend, 2 warning messages were sent through the RO-ALERT system, in the municipality of Gheorgheni following a fire with large smoke emissions.
