Although the PSD-PNL alliance for the Municipality of Bacau was decided in Bucharest, the liberals abandoned the agreement and want to support the controversial businessman, Sergiu Sechelariu, in the Bacau City Hall.
Just a week ago, in Bucharest, it was decided that the PSD would go together with the PNL, in the local elections for the Bacau mayor’s office. The common candidate was the social-democrat, the current president of the Bacau Regional Council, Valentin Ivancea. After only a few days, the liberals voted in a meeting, which took place at the end of the week, to go with their own candidate.
According to some political sources, the president of PNL Bacau, Mircea Fechetand wants him Sergiu Sechelariu candidate from PNL Bacau.
Sergiu Sechelariu ran as an independent candidate in the 2020 local elections, after which he went to PMP to be elected senator. He did not manage to obtain any victory in the past elections, but this year he wants to try again.

After the rumor that Sergiu Sechelariu would be the PNL candidate for Bacau City Hall, a film appeared in the public space that went viral. This was also shown on Antena 3, and the journalists wondered: “We no longer support a PSD candidate to support another PSD candidate. What about the PSD-PNL alliance in Bacau, Mr. Falca?”
The film features Sergiu Sechelariu and the former mayor of Busteni, Emanoil Savin, who sings a song about “Amnesty!”
Sergiu Sechelariu is the brother of Dumitru Sechelariu, former PSD mayor of the Municipality of Bacau, in the period 1996-2004. He was involved in the famous Zambaccian file.

PSD has validated its 94 candidates, including the Bacau City Hall and Bacau CJ
On March 27, the PSD Bacău County Political Committee validated the 94 candidacies for the post of mayor and that of the president of the County Council. The social democrat Valentin Ivancea, currently president of the County Council, was appointed to run for the position of mayor of Bacau and Cristina Pravat for the position of president of the Bacau Regional Council.
