The liberals did not manage to impose their candidate for the General City Hall and did not even achieve parity with the PSD on the list for councilors in the Capital. The party led by Marcel Ciolacu dominates in the General Council and in the sectors where it has mayors.

The weight on the joint PSD – PNL list in Bucharest is 60% – 40% in favor of the social democrats, sources from the two parties revealed to Hotnews.ro.

“The ratio of 1.5 to 1 was established based on opinion polls, but also following negotiations. It is not applied in every sector, but for the first time it is used for the General Council of the Municipality of Bucharest”, said the quoted sources.

Some social democrats claim that the liberals benefited from this negotiation in the Capital, because their real strength is even lower. “Yes, PSD will have more mandates of councilors, but anyway it had more now. PNL won in Bucharest in 2020, together with USR, not alone. If everyone was now on the list, the PNL wouldn’t get more seats”, said social democrats from the capital organization for Hotnews.ro.

The City Hall of the Capital has 54 general councilors, and most of them were provided until this year by PNL – USR – PMP. PSD was in opposition in the General Council during the period 2020-2024.

Share in Bucharest on PSD – PNL lists

The algorithm in the Capital for the list of councilors, according to the decision of the Coalition, is as follows:

General Council – PSD 60% – PNL 40%

Sector 1 – PSD 50% – PNL: 50%

Sector 2 – PSD: 50% – PNL 50%

Sector 3 – PSD 67% – PNL 33%

Sector 4 – PSD 67% – PNL 33%

Sector 5 – PSD 50% – PNL 50%

Sector 6 – PSD 33% – PNL 67%

“PSD has double in sectors 3 and 4 because it has the mayor in office. The same principle applies to Sector 6, where the PNL has the mayor through Ciprian Ciucu”, sources from the Coalition explained to Hotnews.ro, the mechanism by which the weighting on the list for general and sector councilors was reached.

List of candidates for mayors in Bucharest

Last week, the coalition also divided the candidacies for the Sectors of the Capital.

Capital City Hall – Cătălin Cîrstoiu – independent

District 1 – George Tuță (PNL)

District 2 – Rareș Hopincă (PNL)

District 3 – Robert Negoiță (PSD)

District 4 – Daniel Băluță (PSD)

District 5 – Adrian Vigheciu (PSD)

Sector 6 – Ciprian Ciucu (PNL)

Robert Negoiță will run for PSD, social democratic sources told Hotnews.ro. Incidentally, last week both Marcel Ciolacu and Nicolae Ciucă were at the launch of his candidacy. The mayor from Sector 3 did not answer Hotnews.ro’s questions until the article was published.
