Paid sick leave could also be granted to employees participating in clinical trials. It is a proposal under debate in the Parliament, after it was voted in the Senate.

The Commission for Labor and Social Protection of the Chamber of Deputies proposed the project for adoption, introducing for the first time into Romanian legislation medical leaves and allowances “for the person who participates as a subject in a clinical study organized according to the law, regardless of whether the individual participates as a recipient of a clinical investigational drug or as a participant in the control group”.

According to the text, natural persons will have the right to leave and allowance, regardless of whether they participate as recipients of the drug for clinical investigation or as participants in the control group, writes Antena3CNN

As for the allowance they will receive, it will be 85% of the average gross monthly income of the last six months of the 12 months of which the insurance period is constituted, up to the limit of 12 minimum gross salaries per country per month.

To enter into force, the draft law must be voted by the plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies, promulgated by the President of Romania and published in the Official Gazette.
