The Prince of Wales was asked about his wife, who is undergoing cancer treatment. Prince William has given an upbeat update on Kate Middleton following her latest royal engagement.

The Prince of Wales, 41, chatted with people who came to see him after he stopped at James Place in Newcastle, in northeast England, on April 30. William gave a brief update on his wife, who has put her royal duties on hold in public after being diagnosed with cancer.

“Do you mind if I ask how your wife and children are doing?” asked one of the women, as seen in a video posted on Instagram by fan account WalesVideos.

“We’re all fine, thank you,” William replied.

“And obviously Catherine?” she continued.

“We’re all doing well,” Prince William replied.

Prince William traveled to the North East of England, where he met the finalists of his ‘Earthshot Prize’ in Seaham, County Durham, and also in Newcastle, where he officially opened James Place, to hear about the crucial lifeline which the charity’s new center will offer to men in the area experiencing suicidal crises.

He also met a child, named Kevin, who told the prince it was his birthday to get his attention. The three-year-old was delighted when His Royal Highness leaned over, shook his hand and asked if he had eaten cake. Staff at Little Lotus Nursery later admitted it wasn’t Kevin’s birthday and the little one was so keen to chat to the Prince of Wales that he told a blatant lie, according to mirror.co.uk.

Six-year-old Sadie Stewart gave the king’s son a card on his 13th wedding anniversary. The schoolgirl, who was with mum Carole, 48, and brother Miles, 13, said: “It was really, really good to talk to him. He is very nice. Later he shows his children the card, which makes me very happy. I’m going to tell everyone at school.”

Kate Middleton has been diagnosed with cancer

Kate Middleton has been diagnosed with cancer and has started chemotherapy sessions, she recently announced in a video message, saying the past two months have been “incredibly difficult for the whole family”. Her diagnosis comes after King Charles III announced in February that he was also suffering from cancer, reports the NY Times.

“In January I had major abdominal surgery in London and at the time my condition was thought to be non-cancerous,” Catherine, 42, announced.

The Princess of Wales also said that the operation was a success, but tests carried out after the operation revealed that cancer had been present.

“Therefore, my medical team advised me to undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy and I am now in the first stages of this treatment,” Kate Middleton said.

The Princess of Wales continued: “As you can imagine this took time. It took me time to recover from major surgery to start my treatment. But most importantly, we took the time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that was appropriate for them and to reassure them that I would be fine.”
