Mircea Ursuța: “May 2 Law”: High-risk drug traffickers go to prison
On March 21, Law no. was published in the Official Gazette of Romania. 58/2024 amending both the special law on the sanctioning of drug trafficking and the criminal code. Specifically, the law, popularly known as the “May 2 Law”, stipulates that, in the case of certain crimes, the suspension under supervision of the punishment applied to the offender cannot be ordered, even if this punishment would be less than 3 years, the limit from which, according to the code criminal case, the judge can choose the regime of suspension under supervision of the execution of the sentence.
