“People will not return home, the evacuated blocks cannot be repopulated at the moment”

The 42 residents of the city of Slănic, Prahova county, who were evacuated after a portion of 23 August Street collapsed, cannot return to their apartments, as the blocks were seriously damaged. Specialists show that the collapse of the street was not caused by natural causes, but by human action.

Emil Drăgănescu, the prefect of Prahova, launches a harsh attack on the County Council, accusing the liberals in the council of missing the meetings of the County Committee for Emergency Situations and not sending anyone to Slănic, where the County Council held an extensive gas network introduction work.

“Unfortunately, people will not return home. The preliminary reports ask the local public authorities to carry out extensive studies, to carry out intervention works and only after that for people to return home. At the moment we are facing some subsidence phenomena that also affect the blocks, we do not know how far they will advance, we do not know if they were before this surprise or if they appeared during it, but it is certain that the evacuated blocks cannot be repopulated at the time of face”declared, on Tuesday evening, the prefect of Prahova county, Emil Drăgănescu.

The prefect presented the conclusions of the specialists who checked in Slănic, and the reports show that these phenomena “they were neither produced by earthquakes nor by large-scale natural phenomena occurring at depth, nor are they directly related to the salt vein that is very close to the area.”

“It is about water flowing there in different forms and, more than that, about anthropic actions, that is, unfortunately, human intervention”stated Drăgănescu, then citing the conclusions of the reports.

According to the expertise, the street collapsed because of the water circulating through the basement, the water coming from various sources: water from the slopes, damage to the pipes.

CJSU Prahova decided, in the meeting of the judges, that the owners of the networks from Slănic-Hidro Prahova, Electrica, STS or private companies will have to divert the utility routes. The city hall will have to conclude contracts with companies that offer specialized services for the continuation of studies, taking the necessary measures to stop the surpise.

Regarding the funds for the resettlement of the evacuated people, the prefect criticizes the County Council on the grounds that it allocated funds to the town halls on Tuesday based on political criteria, ignoring the request from the city of Slănic, led by a PSD mayor. The Prefect assured that the Government will support the authorities in Slănic.

“It was a priority for this meeting to take place here (at the headquarters of Prahova Prefecture and Prahova County Council – no) for the simple reason that, not to mention, when it comes to a crucial decision for Prahova County, a decision of The County Committee for Emergency Situations, the vice-president of this committee is missing.

If until now Mr. Iulian Dumitrescu, the suspended president of the Prahova County Council, chose not to come to the countless meetings of the County Committee, I see that his replacements also choose not to come.
