The First Female Coach From Romania Who Obtained The Pro License, Confessions In The “La Feminin” Show

Irina Giurgiu is 32 years old and until recently was the second coach of the Romanian women’s national football team. He resigned because he wants a career as a “principal”, abroad.

Until now, he was the coordinator for the development of women’s football within the Romanian Football Federation. And in addition to the position of secondary coach of the girls, he was also the main coach of the Under 15, U16 and U17 national teams. In addition, she now trains in her own women’s football club, ACS Dream Team Bucharest.

In the “La Feminine” show, Irina talked about the problems she faced all these years. “I was sent many times. I really like to cook and I cook for my daughter, so it’s not a bad thing to be sent to the pot,” she says.

“But the hardest time was after I got my Pro License. That was when I got the most criticism, I don’t know, bad words. Those who didn’t know me criticized me”, admits Irina.

“I was cursing and thinking: what have I done so bad?”

She then took steps to ride out the barrage of negative comments. “I had a hard time, because I was reading comments everywhere… I was cursing and thinking: “what did I do so badly?”, that I don’t think I did anything wrong… And then, I chose to close my networks socializing, to stop seeing and enjoy the moment”.

Asked if she felt pressure being a woman, especially since football is a man’s world, Irina Giurgiu stated:

“Yes, there is pressure on women and even in Romania we had certain situations. As a football coach, you must first go to demonstrate, to do a trial period. If a man came along, he would hire him immediately! He doesn’t have to prove anymore, because he’s already a phenomenon and he’s a man and knows football. I think this is where the difference is made.”
