The German police announced in a statement that the bus was carrying 20 passengers. On Wednesday, March 27, he was stopped for a check on Autobahn 44 in the Kassel district because he had exceeded the speed limit.

While conducting a thorough MOT, authorities discovered numerous defects, including a cracked brake disc, a horizontal crack in the windshield in the driver’s line of sight, and a faulty air suspension system that was causing the vehicle to oscillate repeatedly.

Cracks were also observed at the axle welds of the attached trailer. Due to these problems, the authorities decided not to allow the journey to continue with passengers on board.

Sent to service for repairs

The vehicle was sent by the authorities to the nearest service center for the necessary repairs. To ensure that the coach would not carry passengers before the faults were rectified, a clamp was applied to the wheel.

Moreover, the law enforcement officers determined that the bus drivers did not operate the time tracking device correctly, which raised suspicions about the recording of driving and rest times.

Legal proceedings were initiated against the two drivers, aged 32 and 33, for violating the rules of public order, with the imposition of guarantees of 1,190 euros, to ensure the proper conduct of the legal proceedings.
