Last June, Google launched the Pixel tablet, which included a Dock with Charger and Speaker, designed to turn the device into a smart speaker when connected.

However, this combination does not seem to have convinced a large number of consumers to consider the set as a “must-have”, which is why Google is giving up on including this accessory in the package.

According to sources at X (formerly Twitter), Google will stop offering the Dock with the tablet starting May 10. However, users will have the option to purchase the tablet without a dock, and Google will also release a dedicated pen and keyboard for the tablet. These accessories will not be included in the standard package of the tablet, but will have to be bought separately, each having a cost of 100 euros in the Eurozone.

At what price will the accessories be sold?

If a customer wants to purchase both the pen and the keyboard, they will have to pay an additional 200 euros on top of the price of the tablet. Both accessories will be available in Hazel and Porcelain colors, which are two of the three color variants of the Pixel tablet.

If Google does end up including the dock in its Pixel tablet offering for good, users are hoping that a permanent price cut will follow to make up the difference from what buyers who purchased the full package were previously getting.
