After more than 3 months since the suspension of train traffic on the Oradea – Cluj route, where electrification and modernization works on four lots are being carried out and prepared, the CFR Călători company announces that it will also be able to transport its passengers by bus.

Two other private railway companies have been doing this since January, as they were able to hire road transport companies without tendering for this purpose.

CFR buses

Starting from April 1, 2024, the service replacing rail transport with buses will become operational at CFR Călători ensuring passenger travel on the Cluj Napoca – Oradea distance, under the conditions of the start of works on the electrification / modernization of the railway line LOT 2 Aghireș – Poieni by the infrastructure manager – CNCF CFR SA”, CFR Călători announced on Thursday.

According to the press release, after the completion of the tender procedures for contracting the car transport service, CFR Călători will provide this service “both on the entire Cluj Napoca – Oradea distance, as well as on sectors within the section, which will also alternate with passenger rail transport services on the Cluj Napoca – Aghireș and Oradea – Aleșd connections”.

The company also states that “the operation of these services will also be conditioned by the subsequent achievements/communications of CNCF CFR SA”, i.e. of the company that owns and manages the railways.

The schedule of buses that CFR passengers can travel with can be consulted below, with the mention that “the departure/arrival times at the stations along their route, as well as the applied fares can be viewed on www.cfrcalatori.ro, in the Details/Price section, from the train ride module, when searching for trains on the desired route”:

Between Oradea – Alesd, and trains

Considering the fact that train traffic is permanently closed on the Aleșd – Bratca – Huedin – Poieni – Aghireș sector from the Cluj Napoca – Oradea section by CFR SA, no direct trains can be operated between Cluj Napoca and Oradea.

In this context, CFR Călători continues to operate on the sectors on this section on which rail traffic is carried out, such as Cluj Napoca – Aghireș and return and Oradea – Aleșd and returnso:

5 trains between Cluj Napoca and Aghireș

6 trains between Aghireș and Cluj Napoca

5 trains between Oradea and Alesd

5 trains between Alesd and Oradea

From April 1, 2024, in the schedule of trains on the Oradea – Alesd route and back (where it still continues), there are changes to the timetables, as follows:
