Yesterday, the president of ANPC, Horia Constantinescu, launched serious accusations against some chicken meat producers. The birds would be fed certain substances so that their meat would acquire a yellow color. In reality, the birds are fed with fodder and plant extracts that pigment the meat and egg yolk, ANSVSA specialists claim.

“There are economic operators who paint these products to mislead us.
But a miracle happens here too: some of the chickens are dyed by feeding them, so that the dye penetrates the fabric and cannot be washed off,” said Horia Constantinescu, head of the Romanian Consumer Protection.

He claimed that the same method is used in the case of eggs:

“It is interesting, and please read the leaflet, that the eggs also take on a different color once food mixed with the products specific to our trick is used”

The accusations were dismantled both by the specialists from the National Sanitary-Veterinary Authority (ANSVSA) and by the poultry farmers.

“This information created a great commotion. Synthetic pigments are allowed!” stated Ioan Oleleu, vice president of ANSVSA, for Pro TV News.

“The seriousness of the message risks harming all Romanian producers. The color of the yolk is influenced by the feed. And that’s why we give corn” also supports Florin Panfile, poultry breeding technician, according to the cited source.

A few hours after launching these accusations that proved to be unfounded, the same Horia Constantinescu returned it as in Ploiești:

“They are not toxic, neither to birds nor to humans…but we are talking here about a deceptive commercial practice faced by housewives, who choose the yellower chicken from the shelf.”

We remind you that Horia Constantinescu presented the prospectus of a product used by poultry farmers in an industrialized system. It is Avizant Yellow, a feed additive for additional pigmentation of the skin of birds and coloring of the egg yolk.

In the description, however, it is mentioned that the product contains “xanthophylls” (natural yellow pigments) obtained from Marigold flower extract.

The head of the ANPC is one of the most “vocal” heads of institutions, and yesterday he was appointed by the PSD as the party’s candidate for Constanța City Hall.

Today, Horia Constantinescu resigned from the position of president of ANPC – find out the reason here
