For two days, the pyrotechnic team of ISU Galati destroyed almost 300 elements of ammunition, “harvested” from the territory of the county in the last months, these being projectiles left unexploded during the Second World War and discovered during agricultural works or in construction.

A total of 297 ammunition items, of which 112 explosive projectiles, 90 armor-piercing projectiles and 95 other ammunition items exploded in a controlled manner at the “Râpa Galbenă” range in Braniștea.

Since our county, as a former front line, still remains a rich “source” for such discoveries, the pyrotechnicians remind us to follow the following rules in the event that we accidentally find an item of ammunition: notify us urgently, by calling at 112, police bodies, local public administration authorities or ISU Galati; do not touch, hit or move uncovered ammunition; do not throw away or hand over discovered ammunition to collection companies; do not introduce unexploded ammunition into buildings, rooms or homes; do not cut ammunition with saws, power tools or welding; do not put the ammunition on fire and do not make fire near them; do not melt the metal elements of ammunition; do not use the powders and explosives from ammunition for artisanal purposes; do not disassemble the warheads or other component elements from the ammunition; do not use the ammo for improvising tools.
