DEx16, the express road that connects the Oradea Ring Road (Sântandrei roundabout) and the A3 Motorway, was inaugurated today.
The road is almost 19 kilometers long. The project has a value of 545.9 million lei (without VAT). The design and execution contract was signed in July 2021, with the builder Strabag having 30 months of which 6 for design and 24 for execution.
According to the Pro Infrastructure Association, approximately 13 kilometers (section DN1-A3) of the total 18.96 km of the new connection are express roads, the rest being DN 2×2 profile with median separator.
With the inauguration of DEx16, Romania reaches 1003 kilometers of highway and 84.6 kilometers of express road.
3 road junctions, 3 bridges, 6 passages and 2 underpasses were built on the DEx16 route.
What express roads are being built in Romania
Currently, in Romania, two sections of Expressway 12 (Craiova-Pitesti) are under construction – the other two in the project being inaugurated, the Brăila-Galați Expressway (10.7 km) – with a deadline of May 2024 and the Turda-Dej expressway ( connecting road to ensure the connection between the A3 and the DN1 near the town of Tureni), with a length of almost 5 kilometers and deadline in February 2025.
