“There are seven under construction with 80-90% completion”

In about a month, all the children from the county’s foster care centers could be moved to family-type homes, was the information provided yesterday by the authorities, during a press conference held on the occasion of the completion of the works at the Prichindelul Day Center.

“The DGASPC Sibiu team is starting to bear fruit. The social assistance system will soon benefit from family-style cottages for all children in foster care. Finally, all these children will have a place at home, in the houses that are being built and put into use for them. They will also benefit from day care centers to receive the services they need, and the special education system will also improve with two special investments, in Sibiu and Mediaș, and these were also made to ensure a increased degree both for the children who study there and for the teaching staff”, said the president of the County Council, Daniela Câmpean, during the conference.

An exact deadline could not be given, however, at the end of April, a first final reception will take place. According to those present at the conference, everything related to the construction has been completed, but the connection to the utilities and the obtaining of the accreditations and licenses of the social services are still taking some time.

“At the moment, there are seven family-type houses under construction with a degree of completion of 80-90%”, the county authorities said.

The first family home where 12 children from the Orlat Placement Center moved was put into use in June 2021.
