PNL leader Nicolae Ciucă declared that he did not receive a proposal regarding a possible candidacy of Iulian Dumitrescu to the Prahova County Council. “At the moment, we remain in the analysis”, he also specified, according to News.ro. Dumitrescu is being investigated for corruption in a case in which his sister and her husband are also accused.
“We don’t have the analysis yet. You saw that each of the candidates, for the county council and the county seat municipalities, were approved by the National Political Bureau. When we have this proposal, we will analyze it, taking into account all the factors. PNL has never supported or blocked or intervened in any way in the exercise of the act of justice, as others do. We have never gone against the institutions of the country that have powers in the exercise of the act of justice”, said Nicolae Ciucă, questioned about a possible candidacy of Iulian Dumitrescu to the Prahova County Council, on Wednesday in Brasov.
The president of the liberals also said that Iulian Dumitrescu self-suspended from the PNL.
“At the moment, we remain in the analysis, because Prahova is not a small county, Prahova is a big county that we have to analyze and manage politically, so that even if we lose, we can control the losses” , concluded Ciucă.
On March 20, PNL Prahova representatives announced that the county branch decided to support Iulian Dumitrescu for the presidency of the Prahova County Council. Dumitrescu is being investigated for corruption in a case in which his sister and her husband are also accused. The PNL candidate for Ploieşti City Hall is doctor Bogdan Nica, manager of the Ploieşti County Emergency Hospital.
Iulian Dumitrescu, former president of PNL Prahova and former first vice-president of PNL, is suspected that, with the help of his brother-in-law, Daniel Lambrea, he claimed, between November and December 2022, a businessman to purchase in exchange for the sum of 47,500. 000 lei of the shares held by Daniel Lambrea in a commercial company, value overestimated compared to their real value, in connection with the fulfillment of his duties as president of the Prahova County Council (CJ) and would have received, until December 4, 2023, with the help of the 2 accomplices, the total amount of 16,210,000 lei.
One of the businessman’s companies would have had a contract with CJ Prahova at the time of the claim, and after the acquisition of the commercial company from Lambrea, a new works contract would have been assigned to it with the beneficiary CJ Prahova.
President CJ Prahova is also suspected of having omitted to include, in three of the wealth declarations he completed, significant sums of money that would have been spent mainly on trips abroad and luxury goods purchased from outside the country , private high school, tennis lessons, rent in a luxury residential complex.
