ITM has set its sights on the courier companies in Sibiu and is starting checks

--

In the period from March to November 2024, the Sibiu Territorial Labor Inspectorate will carry out control actions at economic agents that carry out activities of reception, processing, transport and internal/international distribution of letters, packages and parcels, activities in which means of transport may also be involved (activities registered according to CAEN 5320). Home delivery services will also be included in this category.

The motivation of the action is based on the recent development of express courier activity, the purpose of the action being to reduce the risk of injury during parcel and mail handling activities.

Also, freight transport is one of the sectors of activity in which a significant number of work accidents occur (3rd and 4th place in recent years at the national level), which are often serious, leading to death.

In this context, the specific objectives of the action consist in increasing the level of awareness of employers and workers regarding the need to comply with the legal provisions regarding safety and health at work in commercial companies that have this object of activity, the realization and implementation of risk assessments, the preparation the prevention and protection plan, the own instructions, the realization of the appropriate training of the workers and, last but not least, the implementation of the measures applicable in periods of extreme temperatures to maintain the health of the employees.
“Safety and health are a priority in the activity of handling parcels and correspondence.

By complying with occupational health and safety regulations, we ensure that each activity is carried out in a safe and responsible manner, protecting both employees and service beneficiaries.” – Stănilă Alexandru Marius, chief inspector ITM Sibiu.
