After two failed auctions, the Treasury finally managed to sell the luxury villa owned by Prince Paul Philippe of Romania, located in Sinaia. The grandson of King Charles II was definitively convicted in 2020, in the “Băneasa Farm” case.

The state is obliged to confiscate the sum of 4,000,000 euros from all those convicted – including Prince Paul, who fled the country. From the sale of the villa in Sinaia (Prahova), the authorities only recovered 140,000 euros, according to realitatea.net

Prince Paul of Romania remained free after the French judiciary refused to extradite him to the country to serve the sentence of three years and four months in prison, decided by the High Court of Cassation in Bucharest.

However, he permanently lost the villa in Sinaia, which the state confiscated from him following the corruption scandal. The property was valued last year by experts at 1,200,000 lei.

Whoever bought it made an excellent investment. The price is very low, even if the area was not very large. However, such a property cannot be replicated nowadays. It is a gem, even if it may require reconsolidation and remodeling“, said Eduard Uzunov, real estate expert, quoted by the local press.

Details about Paul’s villa

The building belonged to Paul Philippe of Romania, the son of Mircea Grigore Carol Lambrino, who was born from the morganatic marriage, unrecognized by the royal family, of Carol II with Zizi Lambrino.

The starting price of the auction was 1.2 million lei, plus VAT (241,000 euros).

In addition to the building itself, the related land was also put up for sale, with an area of 156 square meters.
