The Minister of Defense of Poland made an emergency backpack after his visit to Ukraine. “We must be prepared for any situation”

The Minister of Defense of Poland, Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, talks about an emergency backpack, this in the context in which the Polish Prime Minister also talked about a defense dome over Europe.

Kosiniak-Kamysz said that after a visit to Ukraine it was decided to prepare an “emergency backpack” in which to keep a battery operated radio, a flashlight, matches, a first aid kit and two days’ worth of food, as recommended by the Polish Government Security Center.

“I still prepared it and I advise the Poles to do the same, because it is a good thing in case of natural disasters or unexpected events,” he said.

“I don’t want to scare anyone, but just as parents always prepare a bag of clothes for babies when they are expecting a new born (…) we have to be prepared for any situation”, he added.

General Mircea Mîndrescu commented on this topic.

“I am not surprised by the message of the Minister of Defense, he is not the first to talk about flashlights, batteries and other things, it is natural, we must think that such a prepared backpack refers to an emergency situation and not necessarily to war. Obviously the Minister of Defense he intended to print this need in terms of the population, but at the same time he has to show that Poland is ready, is determined, knows what to expect and if something happens Poland will cope because the whole society is prepared, so these messages were carefully chosen and the Minister of Defense wanted to convey them.

On the other hand, what the prime minister said about that dome for 12 months, you know that Europe has to be prepared not for 12 months but for the whole period of its existence because that’s why there are security services, that’s why there are armed forces, that’s why there are emergency services, to ensure this training. If anything is certain about the future, it is that it is uncertain. So it is the only certainty we have and such certainty, which is not necessarily black or white, for such certainty we have only one simple answer: preparation. A preparation that must be done without panic, calmly,” said General Mircea Mîndrescu, on Antena 3 CNN.
