Since last year, Ukraine celebrates Europe Day on May 9. Until then, Victory Day against Nazism was celebrated on this date, as the Soviet Union did and as Russia continues to do.

In this date change meant to distance it from Russia and align it with the EU, Ukraine moved the anniversary of its victory over Nazism to May 8, the same day it is celebrated in the EU.
