08:51Ukrainian forces destroyed 58 attack drones launched by Russia overnight, as well as 26 cruise missiles, Ukrainian Air Force Chief Lieutenant General Mykola Oleschiuk said on Friday, Reuters reported.

“On the night of March 29, 2024, the enemy launched a powerful air and missile attack against the fuel and energy sector of Ukraine, using various types of missiles and attack drones,” the commander said.

Reuters said it could not independently verify the information.

08:45On Friday, Russia attacked three power plants of the largest private energy company in Ukraine, DTEK. Businesses were damaged, DTEK said, according to Reuters.

“The equipment was badly damaged. After the attack ended, energy engineers promptly began repairing the damage,” the company said on Telegram.

Massive combined attack on Ukraine

08:21Energy installations in Ukraine were the target of an attack by Russian missiles and drones during the night, in which thermal and hydroelectric plants were damaged, the operator of the Ukrainian electricity grid Ukrenergo said on Friday, reports Reuters.

The large-scale attacks, the largest of which took place last Friday, have already caused major damage to Ukrainian generation and transmission facilities, forcing Kiev to halt energy exports and rely on imports.

“During the night, the Russians again struck the energy facilities in a massive and combined attack,” Ukrenergo said on the Telegram messaging app.

“Thermal and hydroelectric plants in the central and western regions were damaged,” he said.

Ukrenergo stated that emergency shutdowns were applied in the Dnipropetrovsk region in the southeast of the country.

07:48On Friday morning, Russian forces attacked critical infrastructure targets in the Kamianske district, near the city of Dnipro in central Ukraine, at least one person was injured, dpa informs, citing the regional governor.

“The enemy attacked critical infrastructure sites in the region,” Dnipropetrovsk region governor Serhii Lîsak wrote on Telegram. “The enemy’s main goal is our people and the population’s vital objectives,” notes Agerpres.

Lîsak did not clarify what type of attack it was, but commentators on Telegram indicated that rockets were used and explosions were reported in the area.

A blogger from outside the city of Kamianske, a port city of over 200,000 with a hydroelectric power station upstream of the Dnieper River, reported a crater four meters deep and ten meters wide in the district.

07:30Polish and allied aircraft were mobilized on Friday morning after Russia launched missile raids on Ukraine, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces announced, Reuters reports.

“Polish and allied aircraft are operating in Polish airspace, which may lead to increased noise levels, especially in the southeastern part of the country,” the command said on the social media platform X.

The southeastern part of Poland borders Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Air Force warned that Russia had launched several waves of missiles overnight and that an air alert was in effect across the country, The Kyiv Independent notes.

07:21 Explosions were heard in Ukraine’s Ivano-Frankivsk and Khmelnytskyi regions and the city of Dnipro on Friday morning, while Russian cruise missiles were spotted in Ukrainian airspace, Ukrainian station Suspilne reported.

It is not clear whether the missiles hit any targets, Reuters notes.
