Scientists’ Warning: Stop Nipah Virus Testing. Stop helping Mother Nature kill us

The US Department of Energy and the FBI have concluded that Covid most likely leaked from the lab at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

And experts have repeatedly warned that the world could be headed for another deadly pandemic if lessons from the past three years are not learned.

Professor Colin Butler – who wrote a report for the UN on the origins of Covid – said he had been sounding the alarm about the dangers of developing viruses in laboratories since 2012.

Public health expert Laura Kahn urged researchers to “stop helping Mother Nature kill us.”

Both are members of Protect Our Future – a new group of scientists calling for strict oversight of dangerous research and a “future without laboratory-generated pandemics”. Current projects around the world include Nipah virus experiments in Bangladesh using bats and hamsters.

The disease which in popular terms produces swelling of the brain – causing bleeding from the eyes or can lead to deafness – is listed as a potential threat to humanity by the World Health Organization.

Nipah is extremely deadly – with a fatality rate between 40 and 75 percent – but the virus has only triggered local outbreaks, he said. In a chilling warning, Professor Butler said “very dangerous” tests on deadly pathogens like Nipah could have the power to trigger a new pandemic.

“If scientists are working on Nipah to try to see how it develops or how it becomes more contagious – please stop,” he told The Sun Online.

“It should be clearly banned. Is very dangerous. It’s not just Nipah, there are quite a few more examples.”
