Last night, at 24:00, USR and AUR pushed each other to put up election posters in Unirii Square. Attacked by those from the party led by eDominic Fritz, the AUR members call the userists “political specimens” and call Alfred Simonis a “mafia”.
AUR Timiș claims that they asked those from USr to make room for them, and this did not happen. “I came across the real extremists in Timișoara! Last night, during an electoral action held in the center of Timișoara, members of the AUR team were physically assaulted by the city’s deputy mayor, Ruben Lațcau (USR). Everything happened under the leadership of the United Right Alliance, with Vlad Voiculescu, Eugen Tomac, Cătălin Drula and Ludovic Orban present. What exactly happened? AUR members went to Piața Unirii in Timișoara to stick election posters. There they met the people from the USR, who had also gone out for an action in the same area. The only difference between the AUR group and the USR group was that the latter was flanked by bodyguards. Why, only they know, they are probably afraid of what the people of Timisoara think about them. In the end, those from the USR were asked to step aside, to let the members of the AUR also stick electoral posters, but they continued to provoke, curse, block access to the electoral panel“, it is stated in a press release from the AUR.
The members of the party led by George Simion at the national level claim that Lațcau tried to hit them. “Shortly after this episode, our colleagues started questioning those from USR about what they did for Timișoara, during the mockery in Fritz’s town hall, Vlad Voiculescu was asked about vaccines. The outcome? The USR vice-mayor of Timisoara, Ruben Lațcau, became very aggressive, he started flanking and pushing the AUR members, he tried to hit them, being hardly calmed down by his colleagues. All these things are clearly visible on all the footage. It is ironic how these political specimens accuse us of extremism when their actions seem to be copied straight from the playbook of a would-be dictator. They walk with their bodyguards after them, they become aggressive at the slightest question, they try to block a party’s access to an electoral panel that should benefit all political formations, not just the USR. This is how the great hope of the progressivism of the Baltic Sea in Romania looks like“, the AUR press release also states.
Alfred Simonis requested that the authorities sanction those from USR and AUR for last night’s scandal in Piata Unirii. AUR Timiș accuses Simonis of even more serious things, that he is a mobster who has various illicit businesses with other politicians. “As a conclusion, I saw mobster Freddy Simonis come out and say that the authorities must prevent such acts of “hooliganism”. The authorities would do better to look in the yard of Mr. Simonis, considering his dubious connections with the golans and underlings both from Timișoara and from PSD and PNL“, the AUR press release also states.
