Numerous discussions take place on social media groups between drivers, regarding a situation often encountered in traffic, i.e. what do you do if the Police stop you and want to give you a Drug Test, and you have not consumed drugs?! Motorists advise on Facebook groups not to accept Drug Tests because they have a big error. For example, if you ate a bagel with poppy seeds, it can signal that you have taken opium… or whatever, and you will immediately be criminally charged.
At the same time, it can be a waste of money to test drivers this way, and it puts too much strain on the judicial system if false negative tests come out just because you ate a poppy seed bagel, a liquorice candy, or a champagne horn.
I contacted Titi Aur and asked him what drivers should do in this case, bearing in mind that they risk criminal charges just because, for example, they ate a bagel with poppy seeds. Of course, if a driver is dangerous and goes seven ways to be tested, but if he has not consumed anything, can a driver refuse, as drivers advise each other on social groups?
‘My recommendation is this: The driver should tell the policeman, in a very polite and very nice tone, that he wants to do tests at the hospital, that he does not accept the test, because he believes that the tests have errors. Moreover, if this test comes out positive, the policeman is obliged to take his license until his blood test comes out, which can appear even after 1 year.’, Titi Aur told DC News.
If I were in this situation, I would do this: I tell him, politely, that I don’t accept the test because I know there can be errors, I tell him that he, the policeman, is not to blame, that I don’t have a problem with him. Therefore, we go to do the tests and when the result comes, I will know that I was not drugged and that will be enough. If he stopped me for the control, ok, I’m going to do the blood tests. This is the only solution!’, said Titi Aur.
“In conclusion, my advice, to protect yourself, to be legal, is to say that you do not refuse to be checked, tested, but not in this way, not with this test in the street, but at the hospital, through analyses. That’s it, we’re wasting time, but we go to the hospital and when the test results come, we see exactly.’, Titi Aur also said to DC News.
