Circus between USR and AUR at the zero moment of the electoral campaign

For the first time in the election campaigns in Timisoara, the scandal between the political factions started at the symbolic moment of sticking the posters. The leaders of the United Right Alliance were welcomed last night at the panel in Piaţa Unirii by local representatives of the AUR party.

Mayor Dominic Fritz, Cătălin Drula and Alin Nica were giving statements to the press and at one point they were disturbed by chants from the AUR, such as “Live, live and flourish Moldova, Transylvania and Wallachia”. A real melee formed around the panel, with chants from both sides. There was no shortage of brawls and at one point the vice-mayor Ruben Laţcau laid hands on an “adversary”, being then removed from the crowd so that things would not degenerate. Titi Stoica, the AUR deputy, started shouting “What the hell are you doing to me, criminal! What have you done for this city!”. Marian Cucsa, former head of ALDE, and other AUR leaders were also at the action. Fritz’s supporters had a louder voice and chanted “Dominic”, while those from AUR, with yellow caps, responded with the name of their candidate for the City Hall: “Ilie Sârbu”. On the social accounts, Fritz wanted to point out that the people from AUR violated the law by pasting two posters on the same board.

Spirits calmed down and those from AUR headed towards the next central display location, the one in Piaţia Victoriei, the location towards which Nicolae Robu and the PSD-PNL representatives headed from the liberal headquarters in Unirii.
