Josh Baker

Following the untimely passing of Worcestershire’s Josh Baker, who was aged only 20 years old, both sides will be wearing black armbands throughout the match, with flags of both Kent & Worcestershire flying at half mast.

A minute’s applause by both sets of players will take place prior to playing on Day One.

A Member’s Forum will take place at Lunch during Day Two (Saturday 11 May) inside the Ames Levett Indoor Sports Centre.

Members must show their valid 2024 Kent Membership card for entry.


The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence Ground Tours

This season, comprehensive tours of all of The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence will take place – revealing the history and mystery of the place that Kent Cricket has called home for around 180 years.

Led by experienced & knowledgeable guides, you will visit parts that other spectators cannot always reach, and learn about the people, events & trees that have made our home so famous & well-loved.

Tours begin at 13:00 on matchdays, and at 11:00 on non-match days, costing £5 for adults & FREE for Under 14s accompanied by an adult. Each tour will last around 60-90 minutes.

Tickets are available to buy at the Box Office at the Kennedy Gates on matchdays.

Newly-promoted Worcestershire are currently seventh in Division One, with three draws and one defeat so far this red-ball season.

Jake Libby is currently the Pears’ top run-scorer, with 349 runs in six innings, followed by former Kent Academy scholar Kashif Ali on 300.

With the ball, New Zealand overseas player Nathan Smith has 13 wickets with his right-arm seam at an average of 19.38, and Adam Finch has 11 wickets to his name.

Last time out, Worcestershire drew with Somerset despite a first-innings declaration.

Daniel Bell-Drummond made an unbeaten 79 to steer his side to a deserved seven-wicket victory over Lancashire in the Vitality County Championship match at Emirates Old Trafford.

The Kent skipper has now passed fifty in four of his eight innings this season but he and the other Kent batters had to withstand a trial by spin before reaching their target of 164 and completing their county’s first win on the ground since 1997.


Team News

Kent Men’s Head Coach Matt Walker has named a squad of 13 for Kent vs. Worcestershire.

South African fast-bowling all-rounder Beyers Swanepoel has arrived in CT1 and could make his Kent debut in this match. Two Overseas Players are allowing in a Playing XI, with Australia bowler Wes Agar also in the squad, fresh from match figures of 7-100 in Manchester last time out.

Matt Quinn (back) remains unfit after sustaining injuries during pre-season and is being closely assessed by the Club’s physios. Michael Cohen (stress fracture) has been ruled out of the 2024 season. Tawanda Muyeye has not been selected for this match after also not traveling to Lancashire.

2023/4 Sheffield Shield winner Charlie Stobo will arrive in Kent from 20 May on an all-format deal that runs until 16 September.
